Nutritious meals don't have to be boring! Use these ideas from the M&M kitchen to be more creative in your fat conscious cooking.

Leave the butter and creamy sauces in the fridge - you don't need them! Add a flavour boost to your favourite foods by adding fresh or dried herbs. You'll be surprised by the variety of flavours you can create, just by adding different spices.
Wherever possible, substitute skim or low fat milk and dairy products when a recipe calls for milk, cheese, sour cream or mayonnaise.
The next time you reach for the mayonnaise to put on a sandwich or burger, think again. Mustard is a great, tangy alternative to high-fat sandwich spreads.
Think outside of the box when choosing condiments, sauces and marinades. Applesauce or jellies makes a great low fat marinade or accompaniment for pork products. Low fat yogurt makes a great dipping sauce when combined with spices like chili powder or cumin.
