Monte Cristo Sandwiches
 
This tasty ham and cheese sandwich is made in the style of a French croque monsieur – a bit like a cross between grilled cheese and French toast.

Serves 4
 
Ingredients:
 
8 slices bread
6 oz (170 g) thinly sliced M&M Cooked Ham
6 oz (170 g) sliced M&M Marble Cheddar Cheese
4 eggs
1/3 cup (75 mL) milk
1 tbsp (15 mL) oil
1 cup (250 mL) M&M Honey Mustard Sauce
 
Preparation:
 
Place 4 bread slices on work surface. Top each with 1.5 oz (42 g) sliced ham and cheese; top with bread.

Beat eggs and milk in shallow, flat dish. Dip sandwiches, turning carefully, coating on both sides with egg mixture.

Heat half of oil in large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook two sandwiches at a time until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted. Add remaining oil; repeat with other two sandwiches. Serve with Honey Mustard Sauce for dipping.
