  Maple Flavoured Mascarpone Cream  
Top on your favourite M&M dessert, such as Apple Pie. The combination of mascarpone and whipping cream provides a soft and supple background to other flavours – for a tangy version, try adding the zest of 1 lemon or orange, along with 3 tbsp (45 mL) frozen orange juice or lemonade from concentrate, plus 2 tbsp (30 mL) of honey to the cream, instead of the maple syrup.

Makes 1/2 cup (180 mL)

Ingredients:
1/2 cup (125 mL) mascarpone
1/2 cup (125 mL) whipping cream
1/2 cup (125 mL) maple syrup
Preparation:
  • Beat the mascarpone until creamy.
  • Beat in whipping cream until smooth. Add other ingredients and combine. Add additional mascarpone or whipping cream to reach desired consistency.
  • Store refrigerated until ready to use (will keep for up to 1 day). Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.
Tip(s):
  • Mascarpone is a soft Italian cheese; it can be found in most large supermarkets.
